Kenneth Turner on Lavender

Lavender is one of the most intoxicating fragrances nature has to offer. It provides many benefits to the mind and body and can be used in multiple ways.

Lavender has been utilised by humanity for thousands of years. The Ancient Greeks & Romans were known to have used lavender for tasks such as deterring insects and even dressing wounds.

Today lavender is still used for its soothing and relaxing properties, as it is known to help with moods & sleep. The strong smell of lavender is proven to calm nerves and sooth, promoting relaxation and lessening feelings of anxiety.

Lavender oil is one of the few essential oils that is safe to use on skin. Lavender can soothe burns, cuts, acne and other skin irritations as it contains antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.

Aside from the more obvious usages, one of our guilty pleasures is to use lavender in baking! A particular favourite of ours is the following recipe – thanks to the Standen House and Garden & National Trust for this!
